Unexcused/Poor excuse absences: It is the time of year that I need to remind everyone of our unexcused/poor excuse absence policy. If an athlete misses (or is more than 15 minutes late to a practice), and is unexcused or does not have a legitimate excuse they will be suspended from the matches that occur that week. If an athlete is missing due to sickness, or injury a doctor’s note must be provided to a coach. The note needs to include how many days the athlete needs to be out of practice. If possible please try to schedule dentist and orthodontist appointments in the afternoon. If trouble with transportation is foreseen it the athlete’s responsibility to use the phone list that he has been provided to arrange alternate means of transportation from a teammate. Too many absences, will result in too many missed matches, and could lead to dismissal from the team.
Low on towels: If you have any bathroom towels that you do not use, please consider donating them to the team. We currently use every towel we have, and are anticipating more athletes. To be honest some towels have had a long, hard life and need to be retired.
Red ribbon (drug awareness) week: Alternate dress is allowed this week. Monday- Red shirts,Tuesday-Athletic team jerseys and shirts, Wednesday-Camo, Thursday- Nerd attire, Friday- Orange and Black.
Team Pictures (Round 1): On Saturday, October 31st at 1:00 p.m. we will take pictures for our team poster at the Army National Guard Armory behind Wal-Mart. We will be taking our picture with heavy machinery, U.S. flags, etc. Please wear your Wylie wrestling shirt (baby blue), and jeans. These pictures are not for the yearbook, those pictures will be taken later in the season.
On the Horizon:. Nov. 5th- Inter-squad competition 6:00 p.m.(WHS aux. gym). Nov 7th- St. Marks Scrimmage 10:00 a.m.(St. Marks). Nov. 8th- Alpha Weight test date. 11:00 a.m.(Frisco Centennial). Nov. 10th- Season Opener, Lake Highlands Dual 6:00 p.m.(LHHS).
