Weekly News for 04/30/2010

Parents:

I would like to invite your son to the 8th annual Wylie Pirate Summer Strength & Conditioning Camp. The six week camp will provide each athlete a comprehensive Strength and Conditioning Program aimed at increasing each individual’s speed, strength, agility and flexibility along with an increased knowledge of nutrition. Our goal is to increase each camper’s overall athletic ability to pursuing a program geared toward creating power and speed. Each camper will be given hands on instruction on proper lifting and running techniques.

·         The camp will begin on Monday, June 7th and end July 22nd. There will not be a camp the week of July 2nd – 11th. Each session will be 2 hours long and take place Monday through Thursday. Athletes will be required to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Athletes will meet each day at the IMPAC building located behind Wylie High School.

·         There will be three sessions offered. Session I will be from 7:00 am – 9:00 am (Male athletes’ grades 10-12). Session 2 will be from 9:30 am – 11:30 am (Female athletes and all incoming freshmen boys and girls). Session 3 will be from 12:00-2:00 (Incoming 7th and 8th boys and girls)

·         This camp will be coordinated by John Rose (Certified in Physiology/Anatomy and Sports Science). Assistants will include Daren Rodriguez (Head Track and Field Coach) and Ken Wilkerson (Head Girls Power Lifting Coach).

·           Payment options. Payment Plan A. Pay early by June 1st, camp is $90. Payment Plan B. $120 by June 7thPayment Plan C $60 by June 7th and the remaining balance of $70 by July 1st. Cash or check needs to be made out to Wylie High School/ Wylie ISD. No payments will be refunded; however, you can pro-rate in advance.

This is an excellent way to provide the structure you son needs, during the summer to lift/train. If your son is going to a gym I understand that decision,  however that will likely cost more than $90, and can provide lots of distraction. Let me know if you would like to talk more about WHS strength and conditioning camp.

Thanks,

Coach Wight
